For PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita owners

PlayStation 3

Sony does not region lock the game disks - these can be played on any console regardless of region. However Sony does region lock DLC content and DLC codes. This means you cannot buy or activate DLC content from a different region PSN store - it must be done from a PSN account that matches the region of your disk.  Making a region specific PSN account is quite easy:

(Please note: You MUST create the new PSN account using an email address that has not been previously registered to another PSN account)

Step 1: Log out of your PSN Online account and your PS3 User Account

Step 2: Create a new User Account on your PS3 console. Once created, log in to the new account

Step 3: Create a new PSN account for the new User account created in Step 2. Follow the onscreen instructions to begin creating the new PSN account. When it asks you for your Country or Address, use the following information:

For Region 1 (or Region  All) NTSC games, you can use the following address:

3183 Wilshire Blvd Los Angeles, CA 90010. Country: USA

For Region 3 NTSC-J games, you can use the following address:

18 Stafford Rd Kowloon Tong, Kowloon Hong Kong. Country: Hong Kong

Step 4: Complete the account creation process and you’re done! Just log in to this US PSN account when you intend to buy or redeem any DLC for your purchases. Installed DLC is shared across accounts on your PS3 console, so you can swap back to your normal PSN account to play the game and the content! (Great if you are a stickler for Trophies like us)

Please note that you will not be able to use your AU credit card on the Region 1 or 3 PSN Store. PSN Cards must be used to make purchases. Region 1 and 3 PSN vouchers/cards are widely available from a number of online retailers

For PlayStation 4 owners:

Sony does not region lock the game disks - these can be played on any console regardless of region. However Sony does region lock DLC content and DLC codes. This means you cannot buy or activate DLC content from a different region PSN store - it must be done from a PSN account that matches the region of your disk.  Making a region specific PSN account is quite easy:

You must select ‘activate’ in order to share the DLC between PSN accounts on your PS4 console.

Step 4: You’re done! Simply log in to this account when you wish to redeem a DLC code for the game, or buy additional DLC later on.Installed DLC is shared across accounts on your PS4 console, so you can swap back to your normal PSN account to play the game and the content!

For PlayStation Vita owners:

Sony does not region lock the Vita game cards, however they do region lock DLC content. As the Vita console only allows one registered PSN per system, there is no easy work around as there is with the PS3 and PS4 consoles.

Please take this into consideration when buying a Region 1 or Region 3 Vita game, as DLC purchased from the Australian PSN Vita store will NOT be compatible with these regions
